Beware of Cheap Hosting with large space but limit on Inodes
One of our clients had this to say about their former host. Their package was very attractive with Gigabytes t only a few dollars a month. Reason they can do it so cheap is because of using a twist to their terms and conditions. They can offer 20GB hosting but they limit the number of inodes (files) to 50,000.
According to wikipedia, In a Unix-style file system, the inode is a data structure used to represent a filesystem object, which can be one of various things including a file or a directory. Each inode stores the attributes and disk block location(s) of the filesystem object’s data.
What this means is that while your website might be well under the 20 Gigabyte server space, if it has over 50,000 files taking up less than a megabyte! the website has exceeded the resource limits and will be shut down. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Do not be attracted by Gigabytes of hosting space and unlimited bandwidth, but go for proper support services. These come at a price but the end of it is peace of mind and security.
